EPS foam is used in a lot of our projects. Being a petroleum derived product there is nothing good about EPS foam, however be assured not a single piece of EPS foam makes it into landfill from our shop. We have chosen a local Toronto supplier who recycles 100% of our waste Foam. The EPS foam is ground into small pieces then melted through an extruder. The result is poly styrene plastic. The recycled Foam is then used in injection moulding products such as plastic lawn chairs and tables.
A very durable paint is required for our outdoor displays. We have chosen to use a Dupont product that is engineered to be Low in Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) VOC's are carbon based chemicals that evaporate at room temperature. This product reduces these emissions substantially while still providing an automotive quality finish on our displays.
Whenever possible water based paints are used. The remaining paint is donated to our local transfer station where it is given away for free to the public at their request.
Building Large scale displays, can sometimes mean large scale waste is produced. Imagine It is committed to searching out materials, process, and disposal methods that help us reduce our impact on our environment.
If your display is a single use display let us know before we start to build, that you would like us to pick it up after you are finished. We will ensure all the foam contained inside gets recycled. We need to know this before construction to ensure the display is constructed in a method that it can come apart after the event. There is absolutly no charge for this service. We all need to do our part!
I encourage you to call us to discard the display, please do not let it end up in landfill!
